Gift Wrapping Idea

I was wrapping a gift for a birthday party that my daughter was attending this weekend, but wasn't sure about what I would do to finish it off.  I was looking at the pattern of the gift wrapping paper that I bought from Target, which as you can see is watercolor like petals.  I decided to deconstruct the wrapping paper and then reconstruct it into a flower from the petals from the wrapping paper.

I started by cutting out some individual petals and I cut a strip of paper that I could use as a stem.  I then placed some double stick tape of the backs of the petals and then assembled them until it looked like a flower.  Simple, right?

I think it's kinda cute. What do you think?

Party Decor: Maps

In honor of Earth Day this month and because I like the idea of taking a common item and finding a new purpose for it, I'm sharing with you some new uses for a map.  Maps already have a natural and familiar pattern with its' multiple lines, shapes and colors.  You can easily incorporate a map into an event that celebrates a well traveled couple or a person.  I love all the ideas above and I would love to use all of them someday.  You could also make a map into a place mat or even a napkin ring.  What would you do with a map?

Bridal Shower Gift Wrapping Idea

This weekend my girls and I are having a girls' day.  All three of us are going to a bridal shower of a dear friend and it just so happens that my daughters are going to be flower girls on the wedding day.  We're all super excited because it's so wonderful to share these amazing occasions with friends.  I wanted to share with you the special way I wrapped the gift.  I can't take credit for this idea that I got from my sister-in-law.  Since the tradition for a bridal shower is to collect bows from the party and create a bouquet that the bride uses during the rehearsal, my sister-in-law started to put some artificial flowers atop bridal shower gifts so that the bride would have more than just bows in her practice bouquet.  So, taking off with her idea, I wrapped this gift with some special embellishments for my dear friend.
